10+ Things to do Now that You're Engaged

10+ Things to do Now that You're Engaged

Congratulations! You just got engaged!!! The champagne and excitement has worn off, and now you’re thinking, umm what do I do now?  Here are more than ten things to do right after your hunny pops the question.

01. CALL YOUR FAMILY!

Spreading the news and joy, especially after the year we’ve just had, is an absolute must.  Revel in the love with your friends and family, and just enjoy your moment.  The hard parts come right after this!

02. PIN YOUR RING INSPO

Now that it’s official, you need a ring. More and more couples are getting engaged before having rings picked out, knowing that a lot of people want to choose their ring themselves. Start pinning your inspirations and find that perfect piece of jewelry for you. Check out our guide to alternative stones for a little knowledge and help choosing the right ring when there’s literally a sea of rings to choose from.

03. CUSTOM THAT B*

Custom rings are absolutely the best option to find something unique and true to you and your love.  Once you find a designer you love, talk to them about custom options! At Elana Jovero Fine Jewelry, we LOVE to hear your dreams and make them true.  Check out this one of a kind wedding set we made with carefully selected stones and designs to match the wearers favorite flower, a symbol of protection, and her unique love to her two partners.

04. GET A MANICURE

This one seems silly, but a perfect manicure makes that ring shine a little extra, especially for task number 5.

05. TAKE A RING SELFIE!

Now that you have your ring, go ahead, take that selfie! We all want to see it, don’t be shy!

06. START YOUR GUEST LIST

Before even discussing a budget, I suggest starting a guest list to see how many people you want to include. Whether you’re eloping right now, or having a huge wedding once things reopen, the guest list will be the main determining factor of your budget.

07. PICK A DATE

Some people go for the anniversary of their first date, some go for a special day in their relationship, and some just go for whatever date gives them all the feels. Whatever method you choose, now is a great time to choose a date.

08. …AAAAAAND NOW IT’S TIME FOR A BUGET

Start crunching numbers and finding exactly what is important to you.  There’s always going to be a place to cut so you can spend more somewhere else, so make those distinctions of what is most important.  To me, it's the rings and the dress.  My bf and I would get married by ourselves in a freaking phonebooth for all we care--actually that sounds kinda cute.

09. DRESS INSPO

Now is time to start looking at the dresses, because just like engagement rings, there's a literal sea of dresses out there and it’s easy to get lost. This is one I’ve been eyeing for literally a decade? It’s the Allure Romance 2701 and wow gosh I’m getting so old

10. VENUE TIME!

This year might be a bit hard to get the perfect venue, so start looking for that asap. Now that you know how many people you want to accommodate, that should help you choose the venue. Another great tip, because weddings in 2020 were postponed to 2021, they are VERY booked. Try to nail them down as soon as you can so you don’t have to wait too long.

11. BOOK YOUR ENGAGEMENT SHOOT

So many couples choose to only have photography at the wedding, but an engagement photoshoot is an amazing way to commemorate your love. Most wedding time frames are a year+! Get that shoot in now to have some fun, revel in the love, and take a fun and much needed break from wedding planning. To say wedding planning is stressful is an understatement. Enjoy the afternoon and get pampered and photographed, and remember all the reasons you’re having a wedding in the first place.

12. BREATHE

My last and most important step is to remember to breathe. You’ll find yourself so quickly swept up in planning, that stress can easily take over. Meditate, breathe, take a long bath, get a manicure, watch some Vikings on tv--however you like to relax and take a breather, this is definitely the time to do it. You’ve earned it.
